Derby Day Delight- Manchester City cruise to win over United

Manchester City ran out 3-0 winners over Manchester United in the 197th Manchester derby.
Boyhood City fans Phil Foden and Erling Haaland were both on target yet again against United in a comfortable win.
After back to back league defeats, the blues looked more like the City of old, yet it was against a poor Man United side.

The return of Phil Foden
Foden marked his first start of the season by scoring the first goal of the game, a header coming from a Jeremy Doku cross.
The midfielder ran the show for the majority of the first half and got his goal after 18 minutes which his performance deserved.
Performances like this were few and far between last season for the 2024 Premier League Player of the Year due to injury and form issues, but today he showed signs of being back to his brilliant best.
After the game the 25-year-old spoke about the extra motivation he had following the news about Ricky Hatton's death.
“100%, I had extra motivation. It was for him and his family. It was all for him and we are delighted with the result.”
Pep Guardiola also spoke on the news and he described the minutes appreciation for Hatton as the 'most intense he's seen' and he thanked the United fans for their part in the applause.

Haaland is inevitable
Another brace for the Norwegian takes his total for the season to five in four Premier League games.
After scoring five in a game whilst on international duty, the striker certainly seems to have brought that form back with him to Manchester.
He was awarded the Player of the Match trophy afterwards but he seemed to think that new signing Gianluigi Donnarumma deserved the award.

Are City back?
Three goals and three points against your closest rivals is always great but there are still definitely things to improve on for Pep Guardiola's side.
The passing and pressing was much improved from the previous two games but the defence still had a few shaky moments and if it wasn't for Donnarumma then it could've been a much closer game.
Having said that, City themselves did have the chances to score a couple more with Reijnders and Haaland both missing big chances which would've put City completely out of sight before United started to create some chances later in the game.
With both Foden and Gvardiol back in the side City did show glimpses of their old-selves and scoring three will definitely give Pep’s men some momentum heading into their big games against Napoli and Arsenal.
